Violet Grace Fiber Studio is the virtual space that encompasses all the aspects that I would want to have in a brick and mortar fiber studio.

Picture it… exposed brick walls and large windows with black panes letting in so much natural light… large metal chandeliers lit with Edison bulbs… furniture pieces and seating areas covered in linen and faux leather scattered through out… the most beautiful repurposed wooded floors… and metal winding stair leading to an upstairs office space.

In one corner of the studio would be all the books and printed material created and published through the studio. In the opposite corner are the sample sales racks and shelves filled with the one of a kind pieces that were created when developing and writing each of the studio’s patterns and designs.

There would be a space where someone could come in and request that particular items be made for them. Maybe there’s a pattern they saw released by another fiber artist they would love to have made or maybe they have a special occasion coming up and would like to have a one of a kind dress made for them. They would have the ability to talk one on one with us to get their visions realized.

One side of the studio would have a space dedicated for teaching crochet classes to people of all ages and skill sets. We would have an entire area where the yarn that someone has no use for could be picked up by another members who has just the right project in mind for it. The donated yarn would also be put together by studio members and turned into blankets, and sweaters, and baby items to be donated to local shelters and charities.

There would be a cork message board where studio members could get in contact with each other in order to give each other the support they needed, whether it be additional project materials, help finishing a pattern they were stuck on, or simply encouragement to continue with life’s craziness.

How does this translate into a virtual world?

This website will little by little provide all of these elements of of my imaginary store front. There will be pages where you can find all of the deigns available for purchase. Sample items will be listed for sale. There will be crochet tutorials and videos available to view. Virtual classes will be announced and made available for budding fiber artists of all ages and skill sets. I plan to highlight organizations that accept crocheted items as donations, and do online drives for them. Most of all and one of the things I am most excited about is the community support piece.

Violet Grace Fiber Studio won’t simply have customers or clients, we will have members. This will be a place where you can not only pop in and purchase something you’d like or hire me to create a piece for you, but this will also be a place where you can find support.

One of the things I have grown to love most about my account on Instagram has been the amount of support, guidance, and encouragement I have received over the years. It has been invaluable to say the least! I love that I haven’t just gotten positive feedback either. I have met the kindest people who have provided me really thoughtful feedback that has helped me truly grow as a fiber artist. I want to continue to encourage that at Violet Grace Fiber Studio for all our members and anyone who passes through the virtual doors.

And who knows… maybe one day those doors will be real ones.

Until then…

xo
